I heard about this place from Lisa, an LA native co-worker who had great things to say about it. And when she said they had exceptional brunch, I had my doubts--what can I say, I'm an Astoria girl. But Lisa was so right. Jack n Jill's was fun, served delicious food and wasn't hoity-toity--even for Beverly Hills.

Atmosphere:
Jack n' Jill's is a busy spot and seems like the place to be on Saturday or Sunday morning. I think its appeal is simplicity and a non-pretentious vibe. And while the clientele ranges from rail-thin, Prada clad chicks to relaxed T-shirt and jeans guys, the place is approachable and welcoming--especially to an out-of-towner.

The decor inside reminds me of a French bistro. I very much like the simple, clean lines and the long horizontal mirrors that line the walls. Outside seating is also available, while somewhat limited--they have about 4-5 tables. Another thing to note is that they don't take reservations so be prepared to wait up to a half hour during peak brunch times of 12p - 1:30p.

Food:
As soon as I looked at the
menu I was impressed. The dishes seemed rich and uncompromising, packed with flavor ingredients such as bacon and various cheeses. Watch out Beverly Hills dieters, this place may not be for you! I immediately wanted The ABT omelette with fresh avocado, bacon and tomatoes with jack and cheddar cheese. I couldn't believe how large it was when it arrived and how scrumptious. While I loved the omelette itself, I was really crazy about the crispy hash that came with it. It tasted like little well-done french fries, infused with an essence of bacon. I would've eaten a whole plate of just that if I could!

Dan got Jill's combo, which included fried eggs, applewood bacon and of course my fave--the crispy hash. He also loved his dish and couldn't believe how gigantic it was. Both of our brunch plates were served with a choice of fresh mini cornbread, mini blueberry muffins, a buttermilk biscuit or toast. I opted for the blueberry muffins which were adorable and nice and warm.

Service:
The service was great all around at Jack n’ Jill’s. Our waiter was friendly and had a generally positive, "can-do" attitude. He was quick with the check at the end, which is nice--I hate it when they make you wait forever! The cost of brunch is reasonable and ranges from $6.95 to $12.95.
