Digging a bit deeper, using my clandestine investigative skills (aka calling Terrizzi,) I found out that the pastry shop isn't closing at all. Instead, they're reopening under their original management in about a week to a week and a half. How interesting! The nice man on the phone hinted that good changes will be coming, including exciting new menu items.
Look out for the new Terrizzi Pasticceria in the next week or so. I'll follow up with more details when I have them.
Terrizzi Pasticceria – 35-14 30th Ave, Astoria, NY 11103

N/W Train to 30th Avenue
I was really worried about that. Did it finally open back up? The guy at the italian deli next door and I were comisserating about its closing.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it is definitely open again and better than before! The pastry and cakes are soooooo good!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad to hear that :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wait for Terrizzi to reopen...However I was disapointed to find out the they no longer make cool cupcakes and Manhattan style cakes and artistic airbrushes.Looks like all the creativity is gone. And plus, The service is terrible.
ReplyDeleteThe Old Dragon Lady Is Back!!
ReplyDeleteWho's the dragon lady?
ReplyDeleteDisappointment was definitely not my experience at Terrizzi's. Everyone in there is so nice and was very helpful helping me get the kind of cake I needed. I will be sure to go back.
ReplyDeleteThe dragon lady is the the old owner stuck in the 60's with her no talent lazy son Michael that bought the store back(Joe the deli guy's words). I would love to know where the pastry chef Joseph went to. If anyone has any info where that guy went, please let us all know. He belongs in Manhattan anyway, way to talented for Astoria.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I have to see this for myself!
ReplyDeleteNot only was I excited that Terrizzi pastry shop is open again but that the Terrizzi family is back. I mean they made the place run so good for 40 something years but the other owner only lasted 3. That goes to show you who really knows how to keep a place going.
ReplyDeleteplus the red velvet cupcakes are amazing.
Everyone your search is over to find the perfect italian pastries. I am so happy to see the Terrizzi family back! If you have not been there since they have been back you do not know what your missing from their awesome cookies to there fresh pies. UNBELIVABLE!!! And I am glad to the last owner gone with his nasty rude wife!! They didn't deserve to be representing the Terrizzi name!!! Good luck to the rightful owners keep up baking the best stuff in Queens.
ReplyDeleteHow come Terrizzi no longer makes airbrush cakes? My daughter for the past 2 years loved her Dora cutout and my neice still talks about her tinkerbell cutout airbrush birthday cake. It seems that bakery took a turn for the worse and I will no longer be shoping there. Jon Piearo on 45th st and 30th ave has the best bread and cookies anyway. now what am I going to tell my daughter about her cake this year? Does anyone know where I can get an airbrushed cake?
ReplyDeleteI was reading the blogs about Terrizzi, It seems like tings are getting personal. I wonder if the new owners of Terrizzi are the ones doing the writing about how great they are and how lousy the old owner was. The truth always comes out, so if you like stale cakes served with no class then guess continue to shop at Sleezy..Oh I mean Terrizzi.
ReplyDeleteI miss the NYC style cakes yummy
ReplyDeletewhere did the chef go
He is so Hot..............
OMG Dolce Cake & Confections has the best cakes and designs they are in queens......
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can still get good red velvet cupcakes there, I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteI saw the hugest roach in the window of Terrizzi...YUCK!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot me - it's always nice and clean when I go there.
