I can't believe it's been 5 amazing years since my beloved Ovelia Psistaria opened. I remember it like yesterday, checking out the new storefront with Margot, peeking in and wondering what's to come. We tried to crash their opening friends and family party (it's true) but had to wait another week to step into this modern Greek food haven.
Since that day five years ago, I've been back continuously and watched it evolve into something even more amazing than when it opened. The care and perfection that's poured into this family owned restaurant never gets old, but they also do a great job of sticking to tradition and respecting their roots.
In honor of their big 5, Ovelia is graciously inviting a Fooditka reader and their guest to join them for a complimentary 3-course dinner. I'm pretty excited about this giveaway, giving you a chance to taste the greatness.

I've had a couple delicious brunches at Ovelia, but I've never actually been there for dinner, believe it or not!
ReplyDeleteI love how accommodating they are to people with food allergies. I also love that it is a family run restaurant and there is delicious food and love coming from their kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the food at Ovelia yet, but I would love to as I am part Greek and love to indulge in Greek cuisine!

I was there for dinner not long ago and my waiter was so sweet and hospitable. The pumpkin tiramisu was inventive and a great marriage between Greek and Italian :)

Ovelia does a wonderful job of reinterpreting traditional Greek ingredients and recipes in new and creative ways. Eating there can be quite an adventure. Most recently, for dessert, I had a Pumpkin Galaktoboureko that I am still dreaming about!
ReplyDeleteI've heard brunch here is awesome but never thought to try them for dinner. Recently moved a few blocks away and would live to check it out! merilynnt@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI'm a brand new Astorian and I can't wait to try another one of its great restaurants!
ReplyDeleteI have never been there and would love to Venture to the other side of Astoria for some greek food.
ReplyDeleteI've had the opportunity to try it on a couple occasions for brunch. Eggs Benedict to die for, as well as really awesome lemon potatoes. Super yummy, and I would love to try them for dinner sometime!
ReplyDeleteI love Ovelia not only because of the delicious food, but also the excellent service! The manager and staff make you feel right at home, like you're a part of the family. Also the best moussaka I've EVER had! - Jackie, jlavanway@gmail.com. Thanks Fooditka!
ReplyDeletethe sangria is great. Best enjoyed outside in a warm day.
ReplyDeleteMy parents love Ovelia and have treated me to dinner there when they have visited me. Also, I enjoy the mix of sangria and Greek food.
ReplyDeleteTheir stuffed french toast is like taking a bite out of heaven! One of my favorite brunch places in the city.

I love how Ovelia is trendy without being pretentious. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I also appreciate their heavy amount of seafood offerings. I know a lot of Greek places have seafood, but Ovelia approaches seafood with a creative eye.

I have heard wonderful things about Ovelia and one of the fantastic things about living is Astoria is the easy access to great food.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to the area and I've heard so many good things about Ovelia! I can't wait to make it there soon!

My favorite way to enjoy Ovelia is for brunch, where my fav item is their homemade sausage...or for $5 glasses of wine during happy hour with some great greek dips as a snack. And they have the best sidewalk/outdoor eating spot in Astoria if you ask me!

I am absolutely obsessed with their tiropita toast. I get the sandwiches, eat all the insides with my fork and then savor the bread. Nom!

I have never been but I know if Fooditka recommends this restaurant it must be great!!! -Lis-er
ReplyDeleteI love their Rock n'Rib Wednesday option. It's such a fun menu and everything I have had off of it is delicious. Their homemade sausage is also excellent. rdelpezzo@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI went to Ovelia for brunch just after picking up the keys to my first apartment in Astoria. It was great and I honestly can't say why I haven't been back. I had the opportunity to taste the Greek coffee rubbed steak a few weeks back when they were at Uncorked and it was the most amazing steak that I have ever eaten so they're back on my list of places to go.

Before my recent move to Astoria, I was told by a couple friends, both lived here before, that Ovelia is a must try!
ReplyDeleteI am sure Ovelia has been proudly serving the community for 5 years and having been witnessing people come and go.
Being new to the area, I am eager to be the next new customer of Ovelia along with my foodie buddies!
